From November 2–8, 2025, we’re proud to host our first-ever Global Compliance Week, a company-wide initiative designed to celebrate and strengthen our culture of ethics, transparency, and responsible business.

This milestone aligns with the global movement led by the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics (SCCE), and reflects our unwavering commitment to operating with integrity across all markets and industries.

“Compliance is fundamental to deugro’s global strategy,” said Jessica Kaplan, Head of Global Legal and Compliance. “In a world shaped by shifting geopolitical forces and complex regulations,  compliance is crucial for our company’s sustainable growth and development and an essential part of our business culture

  • Poster Competition
Employees will creatively express what compliance means to them, with winning entries recognized globally.

Jessica Kaplan, Head of Global Legal and Compliance, will lead two sessions titled Compliance Unplugged: Leadership Insights, exploring how compliance drives business excellence.
  • Email Signature Campaign
Custom banners will be used to raise awareness among colleagues and business partners.

“Leading deugro’s inaugural Global Compliance Week is incredibly exciting,” Kaplan shared. “This initiative sets a strong tone from the top, with management not only supporting but actively participating. It’s a unique opportunity for our worldwide offices to come together and demonstrate that ethics and compliance are crucial at all organizational levels.”

Compliance in Action: Insights from the Field

To define how compliance shapes our daily operations, we spoke with Abdullahi Ossoble, Compliance Manager.

“Compliance is the backbone of operational integrity in logistics,” Ossoble explained. “From documentation accuracy to sanctions screening, it minimizes risk and protects both the company and clients from legal or reputational exposure, while guiding teams to make ethical decisions that uphold trust and transparency in every transaction.”

He also highlighted the unique challenges of the logistics sector:

“In a fast-paced, multi-jurisdictional industry, the greatest challenge lies in upholding ethical standards amid pressure for speed and cost efficiency. Our compliance department must navigate stringent anti-bribery and corruption regulations, manage conflicts, and mitigate third-party risks, while embedding ethics at the core of sustainable business growth.”

A Framework Built on Trust

Operating in over 70 countries, deugro applies the same high standards of integrity, legality, and compliance across all regions. Our structured compliance framework is built on:

  • A zero-tolerance approach to bribery, corruption, and unethical behavior.
  • Alignment with international standards including the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, UK Bribery Act, and the UN Global Compact Ten Principles.
  • ISO 37001 certification for anti-bribery management in our largest regional branches.
  • Ongoing ethics and compliance training, risk assessments, and health checks to ensure vigilance and proactive governance.

“At deugro, compliance is taken very seriously,” Kaplan emphasized. “It is not merely a box-ticking exercise but an integral part of our culture. Our employees are trained to consider their responsibilities in every business transaction, ensuring the protection of both the company and our clients’ best interests.”

We hold our suppliers and partners to the same standards, ensuring that every collaboration is built on trust, transparency, and accountability.

“In an industry full of compliance challenges,” Kaplan noted, “clients can rely on us to complete tasks on time, within budget, and with the highest level of integrity.”

Compliance Week is a moment to show that this isn’t just internal culture. It is the way we show up in the world. We’re proud to mark this milestone and even more committed to keeping our promise: to act with integrity, lead with transparency, and build trust in everything we do every day.
